SAN JOSE, Calif.,<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0(April 30th, 2024)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Prosperity Lab announces the launch of the first cohort of the MEE-Motivando, Educando, Empoderando (Motivate, Educate, Empower<\/em>) program, a Spanish-language female entrepreneurship program in \u00a0San Jos\u00e9.<\/p>

This 30-member cohort, with entrepreneurs based in San Jos\u00e9, has begun an eight-week series of courses in key business skills such as business finance and management, as well as courses on well-being and soft skills such as business etiquette and networking protocols. There will also be a strong support system and individualized mentoring for each participant. After the 8 weeks of training, the three cohorts will work together on designing the next steps of their business project.<\/p>

This program is a collaborative effort with and sponsored by the City of San Jos\u00e9\u2019s Office of Economic Development and Cultural Affairs (OEDCA), as part of its ongoing efforts to support those in the business community most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic: \u00a0micro-businesses, immigrant entrepreneurs, and businesses located in historically under-resourced neighborhoods.\u00a0<\/u><\/a>Evidence emerged<\/u><\/a>\u00a0that female entrepreneurs encountered unique challenges which included low self-confidence, and lower access to capital and funding.<\/p>

\u201cOur team elevates, innovates and empowers through different services that we offer to businesses\u201d, says Mimi Hernandez, Executive Director of Prosperity Lab.<\/p>

MEE will have three cohorts that will offer the trainings in Spanish. The first one opened this April. Cohort 2 will open in July and Cohort 3 in October. There is limited space for cohorts 2 and 3. People interested in signing up for MEE will be able to register until September 2024. This program is open for anyone who has a business in San Jose or a business idea in the county of Santa Clara.<\/p>
